7 Tips for Storing Thanksgiving Leftovers

One of the best parts of Thanksgiving is the leftovers! Many plan to cook enough to have food to send home with guests, and enough for themselves and their own holiday leftover meals. Here are a few tips when packing and storing your leftovers:

1. Leftovers can be kept in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.

2. Reheat only what you’ll be serving each time instead of reheating everything and re-storing.

3. Use a thermometer to make sure all reheated food reaches 165 degrees F.

4. Separate the turkey from the stuffing.

5. Cover food tight. If you are using storage bags, squeeze out as much air as possible. If using containers, choose
the smallest container your food will fit in.

6. Use the freezer too! It’s ok to keep leftovers in the refrigerator for 1 or 2 days before deciding to freeze, but the sooner they go in the freezer the better.

7. Label and date your leftovers. Careful to note any special recipe attributes (gluten-free, dairy-free, etc..)
