Eating for Two?
Expectant and new mothers now have a quick-and-easy nutrition guide available online. Visit www.mypyramid.gov and click on MyPyramid for Pregnancy & Breastfeeding. After answering several questions, moms will be given an individualized, printable nutrition plan that shows how many servings per food group they need, depending on trimester or the age of the infant being breastfed.
MyPyramid Plan for Moms is the latest evolution of the MyPyramid food plan introduced by the U.S. government in 2005 as a revision of the original Food Guide Pyramid. Everyone can receive his or her own personalized recommendations at www.mypyramid.gov. The printable plan is designed as a chart that lets people track their progress and choose future food goals.
MyPyramid for Moms was developed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture Center for Nutrition Policy and Promotion, in conjunction with the Food and Nutrition Service’s Women, Infants, and Children Program, and the Department of Health and Human Services.
