Psoriatic Arthritis Undiagnosed in Millions

New research from the National Psoriasis Foundation indicates that nearly one-quarter of people with the autoimmune disorder may have undiagnosed cases of psoriatic arthritis, an inflammatory disease that targets the joints and tendons. Symptoms of psoriatic arthritis include joint pain, joints that are red or warm to the touch, and swollen fingers and toes. “It’s vital to diagnose and treat psoriatic arthritis early in order to prevent or slow joint damage,” says Mark Lebwohl, MD, chairman of the National Psoriasis Foundation Medical Board.
