If you need to lose weight, don’t be discouraged. Even a small weight loss (just 10 percent of your current weight) will help to lower your risk of developing diseases associated with obesity.
Body Mass Index (BMI) provides a reliable indicator of body fatness for most people and is used to screen for weight categories that may lead to health problems.
To calculate BMI:
Example: Weight = 150 lbs, Height = 5’5” (65”)
Calculation: 150 ÷ 65 = 2.307 ÷ 65 = 0.0355 x 703 = 24.96
| Category | BMI |
| Underweight | Below 18.5 |
| Healthy Weight |
Between 18.6-24.9 |
| Overweight | Between 25-29.9 |
| Obese | 30 and above |
