Remember that no question is insignificant. It may be helpful to bring a written list of concerns to discuss. Here are a few issues to keep in mind.
- Am I up-to-date on my vaccinations and tests?
- If a test is needed, what are its benefits and risks?
- If I’m given a prescription, what is the medicine for?
- Does the new prescription mean I should stop taking other medicines?
- Does the new medicine have side effects, and if so, when should I tell someone about them?
- To save money, can I take a generic version of the medicine?
- Is there any activity or food I must avoid while taking the medication?
- Can I take vitamins with the prescription?
- What is the technical name of my disease or condition? Please explain it to me as simply as possible.
- Does my health plan cover my visit and all the recommended tests and treatments?
