10 Tips for A Healthy Spring

  • Take an honest look at your life to see where stress or weakness may exist. For example, does your diet, exercise regimen, work life, or network of relationships need improvement? If so, focus on making these areas better.

  • Spring is a great time of year for cleaning and organizing your home or office. Go through piles of papers, old clothes, closets, and drawers. Don’t be afraid to let go, give things away, and recycle.

  • Get outdoors and exercise! Move your body. Plant a garden. Hike and explore your neighborhood and extended community.

  • Examine your dietary choices. Write down what you eat during a few typical days. Assess what can be changed, and create a plan based on knowledge of what’s right for your body.

  • Spring is about renewal and letting go of what you don’t need (including habits that undermine your health). Take steps to release any addictions.

  • During this season of change, enjoy deep and relaxed breathing, yoga or other stretching exercises, and peaceful nature walks.

  • Do a one- to three-week cleansing or detox program for your body. This could include a juice cleanse, the New Detox Diet, or a period away from sugar, chocolate, sodas, wheat, and dairy products—or whatever else may harm your health.

  • During detoxification, make sure to supplement with a good multivitamin/mineral, vitamins C and E, and selenium. Remember to drink plenty of water and herbal teas.

  • Be earth aware and earth friendly. Stay conscious of where things come from and where they go. Support green products and businesses.

  • Do something to uplift your spirit. Care for a loved one or elderly neighbor, or participate in a community event or project. Doing for others is key to completing the circle of life.
